| Installation FAQ's |
| |
| What do I receive with my requested/purchased SeaSolve product? |
| |
| Ans.Upon delivery of SeaSolve’s software (through any means), you should receive three things – an INSTALLER folder for the product, a user manual, and an accompanying license file (in .DAT format). Depending on your evaluation/purchase of the product, the license file will be a ‘Demo’, a ‘Demo Extension’, or a ‘Full’ license for the software. Please note that ‘Full’ licenses are only issued upon purchase of said software. |
| |
| I’ve got the INSTALLER and License file for the product. How do I install the software now? |
| |
| Ans. Follow the steps below to install your SeaSolve software |
| |
Browse to your INSTALLER folder. |
| |
Run the setup.exe file. Note: You must run the setup.exe that is in the main Installer folder and not the one in the ‘Installer’ sub-directory. The setup that should be run has a customized SeaSolve logo for the product, as shown below: |
| |
Upon running setup.exe, a blue screen will pop up, prompting you for your ‘Full name’, ‘Organization’, and ‘License key’ details. Fill in the first two fields with your information, and click the (‘Browse’) button to point to your .DAT license file for the software. Click ‘Next’ to continue with the installation. You can, at this point, choose to abort the installation by clicking the ‘Cancel’ button. |
| |
The next window displays the SeaSolve End-User License Agreement (EULA). Please read through it carefully and select the ‘I agree’ option. Only then will you be able to proceed with the installation by clicking ‘Next’. If you don’t agree with the terms of the SeaSolve EULA, you may abort installation by pressing ‘Cancel’ |
| |
After accepting the SeaSolve EULA, a standard Windows MSI installer window will pop up. Follow the instructions on screen to complete installation of your SeaSolve software. |
| |
If, after accepting the EULA, you encounter an ‘Error message’ dialog box, please refer to the ‘Common Installation Errors’ list below to resolve your issue. |
| |
| After clicking ‘Next’ in the EULA window, I get an error message in a dialog box. How can I correct the problem and install the software successfully? |
| |
| Ans. Please note down the error code that Setup.exe displays. Below is a list of the three most common installation errors along with their causes and resolutions: |
| |
Error code 10002 – Reuse of Demo License |
| |
Cause: The user is attempting to reinstall the same version of the software by reusing the ‘demo license’ file that was issued to them. Please also see “10002 – MAC Mismatch” below for another cause of this error code.
Resolution: Upon request or purchase of the software, SeaSolve can issue a ‘demo extension’ or a ‘full’ license, respectively, for the user. Using this new license file, the user will be able to install the software again. Please follow FAQ #__ for instructions on installing a demo extension/full license on top of a demo installation. |
| |
Error code 10008 |
| |
Cause: The user is attempting to reinstall the same version of the software by reusing the ‘demo extension license’ file that was issued to them.
Resolution: An evaluation period can only be extended once with a demo extension license. However, upon request in certain cases, SeaSolve can issue another ‘demo extension’ to further prolong your evaluation of the software. If a purchase of said software is made, a ‘Full’ license will be issued to you. Please follow FAQ #__ for instructions on installing a full license on top of a demo installation. |
| |
Error code 11006 |
| |
Cause: The user does not have LabView/LabView Runtime Engine 7.1.1 or above on the target machine. This error can also be caused by other types of LabView version mismatches.
Resolution: You must have LabView/LabView Runtime Engine 7.1.1 or above in order to run SeaSolve product installations successfully. At the time of this writing, all SeaSolve Setup.exe’s are built with LabView 7.1.1 and will run with the LabView 8 engine as well. |
| |
Error Code 10002 - MAC Mismatch |
| |
Cause: The user is attempting to use a license that is intended for another system with a different MAC address. In some cases, a target system can have two MAC addresses (depending on the number of NICs/wireless LAN adapters installed).
Resolution: Some SeaSolve licenses are locked to the target machine’s MAC address. Please use the license for installation only on the system that has the intended MAC address, or request SeaSolve for a license that is locked to your current machine’s MAC. In case of multiple LAN/WLAN cards, please request SeaSolve for a license locked to the appropriate MAC. |
| |
Error code 10009 |
| |
Cause: The license file is for use with a different version of the same software.
Resolution: Please request SeaSolve for a license of the proper version of the software. The product’s version number is given in the INSTALLER folder name, as well as the title bar of the Setup.exe program. |
| |
| If you are getting some other error code (other than the above 5) during your installation of SeaSolve’s software, please email support@seasolve.com with the details and include the Error Code in the subject line of your email. |
